Any device you need to reach from outside, rather than one that only sends data out, needs a fixed IP. These are the most common uses in the UK.
The SIM goes in a 4G router, which gets a public IP. Forward a port to your Hikvision, Dahua or other NVR and you can view every camera on the router's network from anywhere.
Mobile CCTV towers and site cameras on a fixed IP SIM let you check progress and deter theft with no fixed line. The same setup works for events, festivals and pop-up sites. See our construction site WiFi.
The charge point operator's back office (OCPP) has to reach every charger reliably, whether it sits in a council car park, a depot or a hotel. See SIMs for EV chargers.
Log in to PLCs, SCADA systems and industrial controllers for updates and fault-finding, without sending an engineer to site.
Meter-reading (AMR) software can't reach a meter behind a shared mobile address. A fixed IP SIM fixes that for solar export meters, substations and grid monitoring.
Alarm panels and access control report to an alarm receiving centre on a known address. A multi-network SIM keeps them online if one network drops.
Keep tills, kiosks and payment terminals on an address your provider can allow-list, with 4G backup when the shop's broadband fails.
Your content system pushes updates to each screen at a known address, across shops, venues and public spaces.
IT teams allow-list a fixed IP on firewalls and VPN gateways. As a backup line, it keeps the same IP your firewall rules already expect.
A public fixed IP can be reached from anywhere on the internet, which suits remote viewing and hosting. You control who gets in with your router's firewall. A private APN keeps your devices on a closed network that is not visible from the public internet, which suits payment systems and anything with sensitive data. The EE and Vodafone unlimited plans include both.
A single-network SIM stays on EE, Vodafone or Three. Choose one if you have checked coverage at the site and it is strong. A multi-network SIM uses Vodafone, O2 or Three, whichever is strongest, and moves if one drops, which suits rural sites and vehicles. Your fixed IP stays the same on every network. See all multi-network SIM cards for plans without a fixed IP.
Fixed IP SIMs are part of our wider range of IoT and M2M SIM cards. For a site that needs a router as well, see construction site WiFi.

A fixed IP SIM is a data SIM that gets the same public IPv4 address every time it connects to the mobile network. Standard SIMs get a new, shared address each time, which makes remote access unreliable.
Yes. Fixed IP and static IP mean the same thing: an address that does not change.
No. Because the address never changes, you connect straight to it. Dynamic DNS is only needed when the address keeps changing.
It works in any unlocked 4G or 5G router, CCTV recorder or IoT device that lets you enter APN settings. Your router must support 5G for 5G speeds.
Yes fixed IP can be used outside UK. We have several Roaming plans, covering Ireland, EU and USA. GleeSim can also provide bespoke plans for outside UK, EU and USA, please feel free to speak to our sales team or send us message with required countries for roaming.
